What is Grain and how does it work?+

Grain is a shared photo app for events. You set it up, guests scan a QR code and capture the night from their phones, and at the reveal time you set, everyone sees the developed roll together. No app to download, no accounts. Think of it as a disposable camera everyone at your event can use.

Getting started

How do I create an event?+

Set the reveal time, design the entry screen with a cover image and your hosts' name, then share the QR code or link with your guests. Setting up is free.

Do guests need to download an app or create an account?+

No. Guests scan the QR code or open the link, pick a name, and start shooting. Everything works in the mobile browser.

Devices and compatibility

What phones does Grain work on?+

Every phone. iPhone, Android, even older devices. Anything with a mobile browser and a camera. No app store, no install.

Does Grain work on Android?+

Yes, fully. Grain works the same on Android and iPhone. Scan the QR, shoot, wait for the reveal.

What happens if the venue has poor wifi?+

Venues often have patchy signal, so Grain is built for it. When a guest takes a photo on a weak or dropped connection, it is saved on their phone and uploads automatically once the signal comes back. Guests see that their shots are safe while they wait, so no one has to worry about it during the party.

Photos and reveal

When do the photos develop?+

You decide. You set the reveal time when you create the event, in a few hours, tomorrow, or a week from now. At that moment everyone sees the roll together.

Can guests leave video messages?+

Yes, two ways. Guests can upload any video from their phone, up to 30 seconds. And at celebrations they can also record a toast directly in Grain: a short message to camera, guided by a prompt, with a 30 second cap. At birthdays it becomes a birthday wish, at graduations a message for the graduate. Toasts are on by default for celebration events and hosts can turn them on or off per event. Like everything in Grain, video messages stay sealed until the reveal.

What can I do with the photos after the event?+

Download everything as a zip at full resolution and keep the file on your own device for as long as you want. Inside Grain, an opened event stays online for six months after the wedding day, and you choose the retention window when you create the event.

Who can see the photos?+

Only the guests who joined the event and the host. The album is private and locked to the event. No one else can access it.

Can guests delete their own photos?+

Yes. If a guest takes a bad shot, they can remove it themselves, before or after the reveal.

Pricing and capacity

How much does Grain cost?+

Year-End Event Offer: €49 / $59 per event, usually €79 / $89. That covers unlimited guests, photos, videos and voice messages, the guestbook, full resolution downloads, Google Drive backup and six months online.

What is free?+

Creating the event and collecting from your guests is free, with no guest limit. You pay once, when you open the gallery.

Can I pay before the event?+

Yes, and many hosts do. Pay from the pricing page before you create the event, during setup, or any time before the reveal. A paid event never shows a payment screen on the day.

What if I never pay?+

Everything your guests captured stays safe and waiting, and you see a first look at the gallery. You can open it in full whenever you are ready, within the retention window you chose.

Do my guests ever pay?+

Never. Guests are never asked for a card and never see a price.

Do professional plans have a free trial?+

Yes. The Professional and Studio plans include a 14-day free trial with full access to every feature. Cancel within 14 days and you pay nothing. Exports unlock once your subscription starts.

Privacy and security

Is my event data safe?+

Yes. Events are stored on EU infrastructure, encrypted in transit, and we never sell or share data. See our privacy policy for the full details.

Can I delete my event and all photos?+

Yes, anytime. Deletion is real and permanent. The files and rows are removed, with no backups left behind.

Payments

How do I pay?+

One payment per event by card through Stripe. No subscription and no renewal, unless you choose a monthly plan because you run events regularly.

Can I see pricing in USD instead of EUR?+

Yes. The pricing page auto-detects your location and shows USD for US visitors, EUR for European visitors. You can also toggle the currency manually.

How the money-back guarantee works+

You can request a full refund, no questions asked, any time before you download your gallery. This means before you download the full ZIP or any original photo from your host account, and before the first file is copied to your own Google Drive. Once the originals are in your hands they are yours to keep, so at that point the sale is final. Guests viewing or saving photos does not affect your guarantee, only a delivery to your own host account or your own Drive folder does.
